What is Blue Muse Indie Radio?

Blue Muse Indie Radio is a continuous broadcast of independent music by a variety of artists playing a variety of styles.

Why should I listen to Blue Muse Indie Radio?

50% of the music played in heavy rotation will be based on ratings from the fans. If you want to hear more of a particular artist, then you should rate that artist. In addition 50% of the lighter rotations will also be based on fan ratings.

How do I get my music played on Blue Muse Indie Radio?

It is very simple. If you want to be considered for airplay, then please sign up and submit your music along with the waiver which you can view by clicking the box in the upper left corner. However, you must have the rights to the music before you are allowed to submit music for airplay. That is, you may not submit your friend Bob's music because you happen to like it. Bob must submit his own music and must attest to his identity.

How much does it cost to subscribe to the radio broadcast?

The BMND radio broadcast is offered at no charge. It is a free broadcast that will hopefully remain commercial free.

What is the program schedule for BMND Radio?

A program schedule will be used to provide time slots for specific genres. Initially, this format will be Adult Contemporary, Pop Rock, and R&B from 10 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Central, Hard Rock from 7:00 p.m. until 10 p.m., Country, Alt Country, Southern Rock and Americana from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m., an eclectic mix of A/C, Blues, Christian, Country and Rock from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. Central Time.

Are all genres of music acceptable at BMND Radio?

BMND radio will consider any music that is submitted. While mainstream music fits into the more defined genres and microgenres, a lot of indie music is crossover, so it cannot always be classified.

What type of advertising is done to promote Blue Muse Indie Radio?

Advertising will be used on occasion to drive listeners and possible artists to the webcast. Mostly, the broadcast will be word of mouth, based on the excellent quality of music submitted to BlueMusePublishing.com.

When will chart positions take effect?

Chart positions will be averaged over the course of a week to establish a balanced rating system. I will attempt to make changes to the playlist on Sunday nights so a new rotation should begin sometime each Sunday evening. The chart system will begin on May 31st, 2009.

Why must I sign a waiver?

Although the Terms of Service for signing on at BlueMusePublishing.com includes the right for BMP to broadcast your music, I want to make sure that you understand the conditions for airplay. I support all forms of compensation to artists for their work. However, I also support the rights of artists to promote themselves with any means available. Unfortunately, the rules were never intended to favor indie artists.

Where may I find the waiver form?

Please click the box at the top left corner of this page and you may then print the waiver, sign it, notarize it and mail it to the address provided. Please accept my apologies for the hassle.

Should you receive royalties for airplay?

Blue Muse Indie Radio is a promotional tool to help you get noticed. This is a rather complex issue, as I would like nothing more than to pay royalties on the music that is played on BMND Radio. If a sufficient revenue stream existed, then I would certainly want to pay the artists for the music played on this webcast. However, there is no income associated with the BMND broadcast at the present time. While I remain an advocate for artist's rights, I must also consider the sustainability of the broadcast, which I hope you will agree, will benefit you. If you change your mind about broadcasting your music, I will be remove it immediately. No songs will be distributed as digital files without the express permission of the artist or the person holding the rights to a particular song.
